TODAY, on September 23 2009, I will be entering in one of the largest art contests ever, artprize, based here in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The deck of custom, original Tarot Cards I created over the past few years will be on display for all of you to see, and hopefully, vote for!
What is artprize? It's an art competition for everyone and anyone, and the best part about it is that everyone and anyone can vote. Basically, it's up to the public to decide who they want to win. All voting takes place electronically, via text messaging or online.
Local businesses and different parks and outdoor areas of Grand Rapids have graciously agreed to become official artprize venues. These are the places you can see all of the artwork that has been entered. My piece will be displayed inside the Independent Bank at 86 Monroe Center, Suite 101.
Artprize will last from September 23 through October 7. The first week, from Sep. 23 - Sep. 31, anyone who registers to vote can vote once each for as many artists as they like. On October 2, the top ten will be announced, and then the public votes once more for only one of the top ten, the artist they want to win the grand prize of $250,000. Second place wins $100,000, third $50,000, and the fourth through tenth each get $7000.

Voting for me via text messages? You need to text to 878787, and then use the numbers 32111 to vote UP or 32110 to vote down. The up vote is if you like it, the down is if you don't.
I will be at the Independent Bank on Wednesday, September 23 from 6-10 PM, so feel free to stop by the opening night to say hi!
